Dental treatment under sedation
Dental treatment is a necessary procedure, but the fear of dentists is stronger for some patients. Local anesthesia relieves physical pain, but does not affect the emotional state; many patients cannot cope with panic, intense anxiety, stress on their own and trust the doctor. This is where dental sedation is used at Illi Dental.
What is sedation?
Sedation (from the Latin sedatio – sedation) is an artificially induced state of the body, characterized by a decrease in the level of consciousness, suppression of reflexes and pain sensitivity, achieved through the introduction of sedatives. A person is half asleep, his emotional background decreases, reactions slow down, and the body relaxes. The patient is in a state of mild euphoria, does not experience stress from the procedure and, thus, forgets about his fear. At the same time, sedation does not relieve pain sensitivity, so the use of local anesthesia is mandatory in most cases.
